Exhibition “The Yoshida Dormitory Students’ History and An old darkroom” by Kanta Nomura
At SI Fest – Savignano Immagini Festival, an Italian photography festival now in its 31st year, which opens on 9 September, Kanta Nomura will be exhibiting a body of works he has shown in Japan, entitled “The Yoshida Dormitory Students’ History and An old darkroom” will also be exhibited.
Exhibitions and events will be held throughout the town of Savignano sul Rubicone during the Festival.
Nomura has continued to document the 108-year-old Yoshida Dormitory of Kyoto University, the oldest existing student dormitory in Japan, and has presented his work through photo exhibitions.
His photobook ‘The Yoshida Dormitory Students’ History ‘ was shortlisted for the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation Photobook Awards (Paris and New York) and has received numerous other awards in 2021.
He was also invited to the SI Fest this year after winning the ANDY ROCHELLI GRANT from CESURA (Italy).
‘Yoshida Dormitory Old Dark Room’– a newly completed one and ‘The Yoshida Dormitory Students’ History ‘, will be exhibited simultaneously.
There will also be an exhibition showing artist’s books. Nomura was involved from the installation and has been present from the first day of the exhibition.
