18/5 6pm- Public presentation by participants of the workshop “PHOTOBOOK AS OBJECT 2023 PART 1”

We are happy to announce our upcoming event, The public presentation by participants of the workshop ‘Photobook as Object’ 2023 Part 1’.

PHOTOBOOK AS OBJECT 2023, Part 1, Day 1

‘Photobook as object’ is a photobook making workshop led by Belgian photographer Jan Rosseel and RPS curator Yumi Goto, which has been held annually at Reminders Photography Stronghold since 2014. The workshops in 2023 divided into the two groups and the first group is now being held on 8, 9, 10 & 15, 16, 17 of May, welcoming 13 participants.

The idea behind the ‘Photobook as object’ workshops has been to create something that is more than a book, a book whose contents are palpable and has many layers for deeper understanding of a context. Participants spend six intense days exploring better story telling through repeated ‘Try and Error’ sessions, working on a dummy book in groups and one-to-one sessions.

At this event, a public presentation will be given by each participating artist immediately after the workshop ends. This will be a rare opportunity to hear the presentation from not only the artists living in Japan, but also from the artists themselves, who have gathered from all over the world to take part in the workshop, about their dummy books, which are expected to develop further in the future. We look forward to seeing you there.
