“The Dummy Award” originated from the Kassel Dummy Award in 2010 and was relaunched as “The Dummy Award” in 2023, co-hosted by the PhotoBook Museum in Cologne. This award recognizes dummy books. Approximately 50 entries are selected as finalists (shortlisted) by judges from submissions by photographers worldwide. The shortlisted works are showcased in exhibitions held around the world, where voting takes place not only by the judges but also by the general public and curators at each venue. Based on the comprehensive results, five winning entries are ultimately selected, with one of them receiving the PBM/MAS Prize.

The PBM/MAS Prize-winning entry is scheduled to be produced and published by MAS Matbaa, a Turkish printing company known for its photobook production, in collaboration with the PhotoBook Museum. Additionally, 25% of the printing costs at MAS Matbaa will be provided as production expenses for the other four winning entries.

In October 2023, touring exhibitions were held at Reminders Photography Stronghold in Tokyo and RPS KYOTO PAPEROLES.
