Jim Casper, editor-in-chief of LensCulture, an online destination dedicated to discovering the best in contemporary photography, is coming to Japan. We are excited to announce that we launch an open pitch event for the opportunity to have your work published in LensCulture, upon this occasion.  After a pre-selection process, selected participants will pitch their work in front of Jim Casper, RPS curator Yumi Goto and an audience. Why don’t you try and get the opportunity to present your work through LensCulture, an online destination with an estimated 3 million subscribers and SNS followers worldwide? Themes and genres of work are open. From street photography to storytelling, conceptual to poetic work, – we invite you to submit your own work that you feel the world needs to look at now. (See below for submission details).

This event  will be held at RPS gallery and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to look at  the pitches on the spot and experience the competition for the chance to be published on LensCulture.


Event details and preparation for application: The submission is now closed. 

Those wishing to participate in the open pitch are asked to bring a portfolio of their work or a photobook / dummy book and present their work within the allotted 20 minutes. Please note that a projector cannot be used, so that you will need to present the work at your table. The format of the presentation is free and up to the participant. 5 participants will be selected from those who have applied for the pre-selection, which deadline on  10th of June, 2023. The work of one of the open pitch participants will be published in LensCulture.

*There will be no online streaming of this event. If you wish to observe the public pitch, please come directly to the venue. No prior booking is required.
