18PM (JPT) 14th June : Photobook review with our valued customer with Hajime Kimura (Photographer) X Patrick Maille (Guest)
We produce books all the time, and when they’re finished, we’re so excited to get them ordered, shipped, and ready to go. We have been repeating this process of getting books to our customers for several years now.
Because of the nature of an artist’s book, which is completed from printing to binding, the number of copies set by the artist, the average number of editions of the book is about 20-100. The number of editions varies from artist to artist, as they are given something meaningful to each work. This makes it relatively easy to figure out what kind of people are asking for books, and many of them are regulars!.
This time we are at home more often due to the COVID-19, and we feel we are closer to those people more than ever. And we have come up with a good idea, “let’s thank the customers who bought the book, and not only that, but ask what you liked about the book? “ ask them to give us page spreads and have a conversation with the artist about it. We were inspired by the idea.
Like answering a postcard sent by a listener to a radio show or a phone call that came in.
Most importantly, not only does it make the person who made it happy, but it’s about knowing and appreciating again that these people are part of what motivates us to create the works.
This time we will be featuring Hajime Kimura, who recently completed a book and his book “Mišo Bukumirović“. We’d like to bring this book, which is a foreword to the next book.
This book is like a preface to the next book which is scheduled to be published in the near future. There are still many mysteries in this book. We’ve already received page spreads from one of our customers.
Even if you don’t own the original book, you will be able to join us as if you were browsing in a bookstore, with the author and the beloved reader on either side of you.
