Eman Ali has been selected as the recipient of the 24th RPS (Reminders Photography Stronghold) Grant. Her project, “The Earth Would Die If The Sun Stopped Kissing Her,” received overwhelming support from the judges for this round of evaluation, including Peggy Sue Amison, Alexa Becker, Marie Lelievre, Erik Vroons, and Michael Dooney.

One of the judges provided the following evaluation:
“Eman Ali creates a sophisticated vision of being human in the world with its flaws, deep connections and mystery.
Her photographs often seem to conjure up the magical, even when she photographs mundane subjects.
Ali transports us to another world that is rooted in our very existence and yet points beyond it.” (Alexa Becker, Photography Coach & Publishing Consultant)

Eman Ali’s work combines photography, AI, text, sound, and installation to delve into the complex interplay of gender, religion, and socio-political ideologies in Gulf culture. Her work serves as a means of social critique, observation, and exploration of the layered histories of the Arabian Peninsula and East Africa, prompting reflection on the untold stories of our society and the systems that shape our experiences.
Her project, “The Earth Would Die If The Sun Stopped Kissing Her,” is a culmination of stories exploring our existence on Earth, investigating our connections, roots, relationships with nature, and the futures we are building. It captures our connections to the Earth, celebrates individuality and human flaws, and touches upon themes of separation, death, and the possibilities beyond our world.

Eman Ali, a visual artist based between Oman, Bahrain, and Kenya, utilizes photography, text, sound, installation, and AI in her practice. Her work is driven by investigations into gender dynamics, religious discourse, and socio-political ideologies, drawing inspiration from her personal experiences in the Gulf region.
