The 25th RPS Grant Winner Gueari Galeri Exhibition : TEN YEARS OF GUEARI GALERI | May 24 – 30, 2025

Exploring a Decade of Photobook Practice and Personal Narratives

We are pleased to present TEN YEARS OF GUEARI GALERI, an exhibition by Gueari Galeri, an independent photobook gallery and publisher based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and recipient of the 25th Reminders Photography Stronghold Grant.
This project was selected by an international jury composed of Peggy Sue Amison, Alexa Becker, Michael Dooney, and Giuseppe Oliverio.
Since its founding in 2014, Gueari Galeri has explored the power of the photobook as a space for self-inquiry and storytelling. This exhibition brings together 48 publications from the past decade—each a reflection of individual voices and lived experiences that resonate beyond local contexts.
Founders Andi Ari Setiadi and Caron Toshiko will be in Japan during the exhibition period, with a public talk event planned. Further details will be announced via social media.
We invite you to encounter the quiet yet compelling force of Gueari Galeri’s work—an ongoing dialogue between personal memory and collective meaning through the language of the photobook.

Founded in 2014, Gueari Galeri focuses on utilising the power of photography and photobooks as tools for self-discovery and as catalysts for positive change through personal narratives.

Gueari Galeri’s mission is to serve as a platform for inclusive creativity, providing individuals with the opportunity to expand their photographic practices through the creation of artists’ photobooks. To support this mission, Gueari Galeri has been conducting photobook classes–known as #kelasbukufotoguearigaleri–since 2015. These classes aim to empower participants in developing their personal stories using the medium of photobooks. Additionally, Gueari Galeri has organised photobook discussions–called #ngobrolbukufoto–in various regions across Indonesia and abroad. These discussions serve as educational platforms to enhance photobook literacy in Indonesia.
To mark their tenth anniversary, Gueari Galeri will exhibit 48 of their published photobooks.
