Reminders Photography Stronghold has hosted a number of practical workshops on bookbinding techniques, all of which have received much acclaim. The instructor for this workshop, Miki Hasegawa, has taught basic bookbinding skills at previous photobook-making workshops held by Reminders Photography Stronghold. Under her guidance, participants will learn fundamental bookbinding techniques.

Many of the artist books created at Reminders Photography Stronghold feature unique binding methods that reflect the worldviews of their creators. This workshop will focus on mastering the basic bookbinding skills that form the foundation for more advanced techniques.

During this one-day workshop, participants will learn and practice “pamphlet binding,” “Japanese stab binding,” and “coptic binding.” As we will be using plain paper, no photographic materials are necessary. Whether you are looking to create photobooks or are simply interested in bookbinding, all levels are welcome, including those who have learned binding before but need a refresher. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate!

As this workshop is titled “Bookbinding Workshop with Artist,” we will also showcase and discuss actual artist books and photobooks that apply the techniques being taught, helping participants understand how these basic skills can be used in their own creative work.

The workshops will be held in October at Reminders Photography Stronghold in Tokyo for the second time, and in December at RPS KYOTO PAPEROLES for the first time. Please choose your preferred location.

We look forward to your participation!
