We are happy to announce that the Andrea Boscardin artist book ‘L’Oiseau Perdu’ is now available for order.
Andrea Boscardin participated in PHOTOBOOK AS OBJECT in 2016 and worked on ‘Sentieri’ which was published by his own publishing house Rumore Nero and was also available at the time at RPS. In 2023, he took part in a Photobook as Object workshop with a new project: which was invited for 2024 exhibition Andrea Boscardin’s exhibition ‘L’Oiseau perdu’ (The Missing Birds) at Reminders Photography Stronghold. He came to Japan on this occasion and printed and bound this artist book in the gallery.
“The missing Bird” is an artistic project of Andrea Boscardin, photographer, who leaves from his refuge in Liguria (region of Italy, his native land) to search an imaginary bird lost in a mysterious forest.
In the midst of the Anthropocene era, the artist launches an invitation with his work-investigation to follow him on his journey-research immersed in the nature, where the goal is to get lost then find yourself and above all to reflect on this intimate relationship, precarious and sometimes “lost” between man and nature.
Combining a naturalist approach and a very varied artistic practice (photography, illustration, sculpture, installation of natural objects, publishing), the artist opens the door to a delicate, discreet and fragile universe, made of feathers and mysterious forests surrounded by mist.
Can a man, without landmarks but with curiosity, sensitive and respectful, finally find his place, find himself, find the Bird?
In a world increasingly disrupted by changes (climatic among others) and dangers linked to development, human beings sometimes struggle to find a place in harmony with the earth and nature which has always inhabited it.
In this context, the artist entering into a responsible process and inviting us to think about this relationship between man and nature, and also about their coexistence that has become complicated but which is inevitably necessary for life.
Started in 2014, the work in progress “Of Hunting and Nature” is a set of artworks : books, exhibitions, installations, whom the new chapter “The missing Bird” is part of.
This special artist’s book was created by Andrea through the process of paper selection, printing, and binding in Japan. It is a volume where the charm of production in Japan is condensed. We invite you to enjoy Andrea Boscardin’s world through this precious artist’s book.
