RPS GRANT – Next Deadline: September 30, 2025 (Must Arrive by This Date)

Since the opening of our gallery in 2012, Reminders Photography Stronghold (RPS) has supported artists from around the globe in presenting exhibitions that not only showcase compelling photographic projects but also foster meaningful dialogue between image, language, and the viewer. Our space has become known not just as a venue, but as a site of reflection, engagement, and thoughtful presentation.

As part of our continued commitment to supporting artistic expression, the RPS Grant offers selected applicants the opportunity to exhibit their work in either our Tokyo gallery or, beginning with this cycle, at RPS KYOTO PAPEROLES — our newly established satellite venue in Kyoto. Up to two proposals may be selected per cycle, and both venues offer accommodation support (up to five nights free of charge) for artists during their exhibition period.

Each selected project will be given the opportunity to use the chosen exhibition space free of charge for a period including two weekends — up to 10 days, with flexible scheduling as needed.

This grant is open to photographers, curators, gallerists, independent publishers, and organizations working in the field of photography.

What the RPS Grant Offers:

  • Free use of one of Japan’s most unique independent gallery spaces—either in Tokyo or Kyoto—for a flexible period including two weekends (up to 10 days)

  • Global promotion and visibility through the RPS network

  • Free accommodation for the artist for up to 5 nights during the exhibition period (available in both Tokyo and Kyoto locations)

  • A platform to present exhibitions, book launches, visual campaigns, or experimental presentations related to photography

  • Please note:
From this cycle onward, up to two proposals may be selected per cycle, with one potentially shown in Tokyo and the other in Kyoto.

Additional Notes:

  • All production costs (printing, framing, transport, insurance, travel, accommodation beyond the grant coverage, etc.) must be covered by the applicant.

  • We are happy to provide supporting documents upon request — such as letters for visa applications or grant submissions — wherever possible.

  • Accommodation is available for one artist only. Due to limited capacity, we are unable to host accompanying guests.

We welcome bold ideas and unique approaches to photographic expression.
Let your vision resonate from Tokyo—or Kyoto—to the world.
