Photobook as Object 2025 TOKYO
“Photobook as Object” is a photobook-making workshop led by Belgian visual story teller, Jan Rosseel and RPS curator Yumi Goto. This workshop has been held at our gallery ten times since its inception in 2014.
In 2025, the program is being held across two cities—Tokyo and Kyoto.
In 2025,The Tokyo session, we are hosting 13 participants from around the world over six days: May 31, June 1st, and 2nd, and June 5th, 6th, and 7th.
The “Photobook as Object” workshop has been conducted with the philosophy of creating books that have a presence beyond their physical form, allowing for tactile engagement and a deeper understanding of the content. Participants spend an intensive six days creating dummy books, engaging in group and one-on-one sessions, and undergoing a rigorous process of trial and error to refine their photobooks.
This event will showcase the outcomes of the workshop, featuring public presentations by each participant. It is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the artists, who have gathered from all over the world to participate in this workshop, as well as from those based in Japan. You can look forward to learning about their photobook dummy projects, which have the potential for further development.
We look forward to your participation.
