RPS is now ready to take online orders for Louis Lim and Beth Jackson’s artist photobook, ‘… there is no end’. With this project, Louis took part in the RPS Photobook Masterclass 2017 under the guidance of Teun van der Heijden, Yumi Goto, and Sandra van der Doelen and developed the original dummy into a fully handmade artist book. The artist book has taken part in a number of exhibitions and shortlists and is now ready to publish in limited handmade editions.
I invited Beth to share her story of grief, loss, and upheaval. To hold a mirror, as it were, to my own. Our connection started on a project where we embarked on a journey to understand peace through people who have experienced war. In many ways this book continues our peace project – searching, finding and folding together. She was there listening to my commotion and guilt and I was there listening to her love and loss.
From two separate encounters that intertwine through the process of artist bookmaking, the work is a joint meditation through the grief that sensitively combines treatment of poems with reclaimed Polaroid photographic images and watercolor paintings.
The book offers readers an exploration. It is not a linear journey but a back and forth, across word and images, past and present, connecting voices, crisscrossing lives, revealing stories within stories, carried within.
